I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.1 Timothy 2:1-2
Dear God, I know that I don’t pray for others nearly enough. Yes, my wife and I pray together every day and we pray for others then, but throughout the day I don’t pray for others enough. I certainly don’t pray for our leaders enough. Right now, President Trump is spending 12 days visiting Asian countries and leaders. I’m think I’ve prayed about that on passing once. I should be bathing him in prayer. I should be pleading with you for his advisors, those with whom he will meet, and Congress. I’ve prayed for the people in Sutherland Springs, but I haven’t prayed for our state’s leadership or about gun violence. Is there room in your plan for my lack of prayer? Am I failing you and our world in this way?
Father, and thank you for this reminder. I’m going to give this some thought today and address this issue in my life. If nothing else, praying for these people might help you to guide my heart when it comes to these areas of life. Help me to see everything around me with your eyes.
In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen
